INTRODUCTION

Hi am Captain Jorin, commander of the starship Sirius. I don't have very long, the worm hole I'm transmitting this message through could collapse at any moment. But it is imperative I get this message through. Since our encounter with an alien entity, we have been stranded some 85 thousand light-years from the alpha quadrant. We have overshot our designated intercept course with Voyager by several thousand light-years. I have decided to continue Starfleet's mission and explore this region of space. While at the same time make the journey back into the alpha quadrant.

I have enclosed a file containing messages from the crew to their families and loved ones. We all hope to be reunited again in the future.

Thanks to the recent refit the Sirius under went. She is cooping well with our current circumstances. Though the cultures we have encountered so far, have been friendly, we have had some hostile encounters.

SHIPS HISTORY - USS SIRIUS NCC-79045

Decommissioned in 2307 after 15 years of dedicated service to the federation. The Sirius would be left untouched until 2374. When a lack of man power and resources would force Starfleet to re-commissioned her. Intended to aid Starfleet in it's war with the Dominion. The Sirius under went a heavy refit of almost all her key systems. Her 70 year old defensive systems where upgraded to that of present day. Bringing her nearly upto the standard of the intrepid, Equinox and Darwin classes. However all that changed, when Starfleet received word back from Captain Janeway, commander of U.S.S Voyager. Presumed loss or destroyed, her crew where apparently stranded in the Delta quadrant. Throught sheer chance, the ships EMH had appeared aboard the USS Prometheus. Via use a alien communications grid.

With very little to offer as aid to Captain Janeway. Starfleet quickly saw the necessity for a rescue mission. Having only just finished her refit. The Sirius was pulled from her previous TAC Fleet assignment. And reassigned to operation "Delta Retrieve". Given a new captain and crew. Her orders where to meet Voyager half way and aid her crew in returning home. However an encounter with an alien life, resulted in the Sirius being unintentionally thrown 85 thousand light years. Stranding them deep within the Delta quadrant, and thousands of light years off course.

Originally commanding by Captain Denis Kepler, the Sirius has now had three different commanders in the last two five years. Captain Kepler assigned by Starfleet command, was removed from command. After an alien weapon left him on the verge of death. Taking his place, his wife and also his executive officer, Calandrah Paxton. Captain Paxton's tour of duty was cut short. When a transporter incident reduced her to the age of 17. Still possessing all her memories and knowledge. Paxton was forced to give command to her first officer, commander Jorin. New to his command, Jorin is having to coupe with their recent arrive in the Delta quadrant. With all the unknowns in this hardly charted region of space. Only one thing remain certain. That these are perilous times, and the crew of the Sirius must remain vigilant at all time.

  MISSION DETAILS

TO: Captain Denis Kepler
FROM: Starfleet Command, Delta Quadrant Project

Captain,

Recently, news of the predicament in which the USS Voyager was accidentally hurled into have been one of the primary concerns of the Delta Quadrant Exploration committee. Unfortunately, Starfleet Command was unable to help Voyager with technology. But, we will be damned if we are to leave these people stranded out there. You are hereby assigned to take Command of the USS Sirius, the first Starfleet ship to be sent out to the Delta Quadrant under direct order. Your mission is simple: Find Voyager and help them home by any means necessary.

Of course, you are also expected to follow Starfleet's and the Federation's primary goal: To Seek out New Life and Explore Space. But, Command will be lenient in regards to the rules you bend.

It is within your right and duty to decline this offer. But we feel that your experience in deep space qualifies you best to take command of such a mission. We are assigning a skeleton crew to you, most of them on a volunteer basis, but we would like you to handpick your senior staff, officers that you know you will be able to rely on for such a mission.

    Good Luck, Denis.
