BACKGROUND

Son of Starfleet officers Ben and Jeneice, Jorin, Tom was born on Earth in 2350. Influenced a great deal by his parents, his mother a tactical instructor at the academy. And his father a bio-science specialist. Who encouraged his passion for technology and science. At the age of seventeen Tom applied for the academy and was accepted. During his time at the academy he distinguished himself as a skilled pilot, and for having a good head when it came to computer engineering. Tom's instructors at the academy noted that he had a natural talent for tactical simulations. This probably due to his mothers influence when he was a child. After graduating the academy at twenty-one, Tom was assigned to the USS Atlantis. Serving aboard ship, as an engineering technician for three years. During his time aboard, Jorin successfully passed his advanced flight training exam. Tom eventually requested assignment aboard the newly refitted USS Sirius in 2375. This decision caused a bitter raw between Tom and his father. Who had arranged him a position back on Earth. Tom departed aboard the USS Sirius in mid 2375. Taking the position of chief conn officer. Later that year he was promoted to full lieutenant. And was given the additional position of second officer. Currently heading for the delta quadrant. Jorin was recently responsible for the development of a new design of shuttlecraft. Based upon the Type-6, the shuttle Rescuer is a useful tool for the USS Sirius. As of yet Tom and his father have not resolved their disagreement. And so Tom still holds a great resentment towards his father. Later on in the year. Tom was captured and tortured by members of the Aloner Empire. Thsi was during the first test flight of the Rescuer shuttle. Unfortunatly the craft suffered a fault in it's WPS. Causing the Tom to loose control of his ship and veer into Aloner space. Finally rescued by the crew of the Sirius. Tom has struggled to come to terms with his experience. As he blames himself for Captain Keplers, unfortunate accident. This is compounded by the fact, the captain asked him to look after his family. Torn between his dedication as an officer, and his word to his former captain. Jorin's inner struggle continues.

In 2377, the USS Sirius was forced in to the Delta quadrant, by the presence of an alien entity in the ships warp core. While there, captain Paxton was involved in a trasporter accident. After a lucky escape, she made a full recovery. But her recovery had one side effect. The transporter malfunction restored captain Paxton to her 17 year old self. Unable to command a starship, commander Jorin was forced to take command of the ship. Later after the crew successfully made contact with Starfleet via a wormhole. The brass at Starfleet, made the decision to promote Jorin to captain. Handing command of the Sirius to him, Captain Paxton continues her recovery. While reprising her previous role as ships counsellor.

PERSONALITY PROFILE

Jorin is an out going and easy type of person. Equipped with subtle sense of humor. On occasion Tom will use this to mask his real feelings. In a critical situation, Jorin has the tendency to become very serious.

Though most his superiors believe this to be a moldable quality. Captain Phillips of the USS Atlantis, noted that while in this state of mind. Jorin would sometimes become inflexible and no longer open to other ways of thinking. Given what he called a "Kick up the backside", captain Phillips firmly believed Jorin could learn to master his faults.

SPECIAL NOTES

Jorin is known to suffer from claustrophobia under extreme circumstances. Though it is unclear how Jorin got his condition, it is fortunately not sever enough to effect his life. The chief medical officer aboard the USS Atlantis made a note in his record stating.

"Patient suffers from an acute claustrophobic condition, stimulated by prolonged periods in confined spaces."
